Union State Formation Process Is in Its Active Phase

Such opinion was expressed by Pavel Borodin, State Secretary of the Union State, in an interview with the daily “Soyuznoe Veche”.

Such opinion was expressed by Pavel Borodin, State Secretary of the Union State, in an interview with the daily “Soyuznoe Veche”.

“At the meeting of the Supreme State Council Vladimir Putin and Alexander Lukashenko clear and precisely confirmed that we do form the Union State! I have strong hopes that the year 2008 will be a fundamental one as regards holding of the referendum and adoption of the Constitution,” stated P.Borodin.

At the same time he stressed once again that annexation of Belarus to Russia is not even at issue. “What is at issue is the confederal system of the Union State. It means that the two countries will delegate 8-9 of their responsibilities to the Union State, like in the European Union,” explained the State Secretary.

Besides that, in his opinion, the Union State needs “liberated Parliament, at least with a few deputies possessing delegated authority”.

“There should be professionals, people who have already worked in regions for some time, in different branches of industry,” he stressed. Answering the question about working prospects of a new deputy corps from State Duma of the Russian Federation at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union between Russia and Belarus, Pavel Borodin expressed hope that new parliamentarians will have the most professional attitude towards the problems which should be solved in collaboration with the President of the Russian Federation and the Government during the Union State formation.

The State Secretary believes that we will succeed “if true professional are at the helm”.
