That is what Sergei Zabolotsets, vice-Chairman of Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State, said at the opening meeting of Conciliatory Commission for Budget and Finances of the Union State that took place in Minsk today.

Parliamentary Assembly Membership has been renewed, but it still remains a sound support to the Union State formation and to closer relations between Belarus and Russia. That is what Sergei Zabolotsets, vice-Chairman of Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State, said at the opening meeting of Conciliatory Commission for Budget and Finances of the Union State that took place in Minsk today.

According to his words, the activities of the Commission include ones that help to smooth over the differences and to settle the matters concerning the financing of the programmes that both states need. “Due to the efforts the parliamentarians make, the budget has been adopted in time in recent years, and not with the six-months-delay as it was before. Those times have already become the history that is glad to realize”, pointed out Zabolotsets. It was also added that the work of the Parliamentary Assembly will favour the timely adoption of the Union State budget.

Zabolotsets also reminded that 38 programs, subprograms and events have a reserve in budget for 2008. To implement 7 programs that will be approved during the year there is the financing booked in advance in the budget. “One of the main tasks is the control over the expenditures provided for the implementation of union projects as well as the measures taken for their timely financing,” pointed out the parliamentarian. However, according to the Vice-Chairman of Parliamentary Assembly , it is desirable that the treasuries of both states work more active.

In the welcoming part of the meeting he also said that new head of the Russian Federation was elected on March 2nd, 2008 and that it is an important date in the history of present Russia. “On that day the citizens of Russia voted for stability and the reforms targeted at the consolidation of the state,” believes the parliamentarian. S. Zabolotsets reminded that the citizens of Russian Federation that live on the territory of Belarus also supported Dmitry Medvedev.

During the meeting the process of the implementation of union programs has been considered and the amount of financing of the project “Russian-Belarusian feature “Brest fortress” film-making” has been approved. The deputies of the Parliamentary Assembly, Permanent Committee members and the leaders of the Union State broadcasting organization took part in the meeting.
