XVII International Arts Festival “Slavyansky Bazaar in Vitebsk” will take place on 10th-19th July, 2008. Forum’s inauguration will be marked by the gala concert which will be held at Summer Amphitheatre on 11th July 2008, as the correspondent of www . soyuz . by was reported by the festival’s organizing committee.

Traditional Days of Culture as well as gala concerts of arts masters from Russia, Belarus, Ukraine; Day of the Union State; recitals of variety stars and theatre projects are planned to take place at “Slavyansky Bazaar”. The organizers promise that Day of the Union State will be the most grandiose one in the whole history of the festival. About RUB 25 million are planned to be allocated from the Union budget to implement this project.

As Alexander Kosinets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus, reported, nearly 40 countries are expected to take part in the arts festival “Slavyansky Bazaar in Vitebsk”.

Indeed, each year forum’s boundaries embrace more and more territories: guests from Europe, the USA, Canada, Latin America, China, Asia, Australia and CIS will participate in it this year. All the performers who have made the cut will take part in the semi-final of the festival’s greatest event – XVII International Contest of Variety Song Performers “Vitebsk – 2008”. The representatives of the countries-organizers (Belarus, Russia, Ukraine) do not participate in the semi-final of the contest having the right to perform directly in the final.

Besides that, as A.Kosinets believes, the opening of Stars Alley in Vitebsk in 2008 will favour frequenter visits of variety actors. According to vice-premier, it is necessary to develop show business and invite famous singer onto Vitebsk stage throughout a year.
